The new Songkick Android app, with Spotify & ticketing features!
We’re psyched to unveil the brand new Songkick app for Android, packing a complete redesign, Spotify import and in-app purchasing! Check it out, available now in the Google Play Store.
It was back in 2012 when we made our first Android release, and we’ve learned a lot since then. We’ve learned that artists rely on the live sector for up to 80% of their income, but that 50% of tickets go unsold across the board. We’ve learned that despite steep growth in music discovery and consumption, attendance rates haven’t budged. And we’ve learned that the average music fan would attend twice as many shows, if only they had better visibility on announcements and an easier way to purchase tickets.
With today’s Android release, we’re taking another step towards reconciling those lessons, in the shape of some awesome new features!
Total redesign
First and foremost, we’ve stripped our app down and built it back up again — better, smarter, pinker — aligning with Google’s material design for a shiny new UI. We hope you’re a fan of the new look!
What’s more, our new ‘Notifications’ tab now lists your artists’ most recently announced shows, so you can immediately catch up on super-relevant, tailored concert news no matter when you open the app.
Spotify import
Yep, Android users can now import their favorite artists from Spotify! In a matter of seconds, you can transform your followed, saved and playlisted artists into a bespoke live music calendar. What’s more, we’ll let you know the second your tracked artists announce new shows in future, so you’re set for life. Paired with the ability to track your favorite artists from Google Play Music, and even more options coming soon, we’ve got you covered.
In-app ticket purchasing
If discovering shows on the move can be this easy, then booking tickets should be just as simple. With today’s release, we’re super excited to roll out in-app purchasing with Songkick Tickets. Now, you can track, discover and purchase tickets for shows, all under one roof. It’s a big step forwards in our mission to provide the best mobile concerts experience, with many more big steps to come.
In a city like London, we now sell tickets directly for a third of all upcoming concerts — meaning that you have access to over 1000 events in just a few taps of the app, and our ticket coverage throughout the UK and US continues to grow exponentially.
