Just before kicking off the UK leg of their Megaplexpedition tour, We Are Scientists stopped by Songkick HQ to play us some new tracks, fill the room with lots of laughs, and imbibe some “Songkick Juice”* with us.

After a short hiatus, our Songkick Live series triumphantly returned to its original home in London — welcoming a crew of super enthusiastic We Are Scientists fans into our office for a very special performance. After everyone was plied with plenty of snacks and beverages from our friends at Jose Cuervo and Camden Brewing, we were ready to rock.

Songkicker Sam introduced the band and we spent the rest of the evening singing along to new jams and favorite hits — tracks like “After Hours,” “Nobody Moves, Nobody Gets Hurt” and “Buckle.”

After finishing off the set with their earworm of a new single “No Wait at Five Leaves,” Chris and Keith sat down with music journalist James MacMahon and braced themselves for the hard-hitting questions. We were graced with Chris’ Scottish (?) accent, alerted to an oddity on their Wikipedia page, learned more about their creative process (hint: margs) and MAYBE got the answer to the elusive question: when will we see more episodes of Steve Wants His Money?!?!

We don’t want to undermine the art by saying there is a formula to it, but there is a formula, and the formula is two parts tequila, one part lime, half part agave. Shake it, pour it in a glass. Do that four or five times. Wake up. Listen to the ProTools session. Smash hit.

We’re living in this moment when you can create all of these incredible sounds on your computer that are almost good enough, but we make elaborate versions of songs that you wouldn’t quite feel comfortable actually shipping. And then the project really begins when you decide what you’re really gonna record…

Seeing We Are Scientists perform live is more than just watching a band that’s been playing together for almost 20 years as masters of their craft. These guys bring the catchy hooks, the witty banter and the infectious energy that only two best friends can. Awww!

Check out the set and see for yourself.

We Are Scientists will be touring in Europe in 2019, with dates in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. You can track them on Songkick to get a notification when they’ll be playing near you! Be sure to check out their full Songkick Live performance above.

*Songkick Juice is a very secret and prized recipe only to be shared at a Songkick Live performance.
