Since the release of his 2017 hit ‘Drew Barrymore’, Bryce has been praised by fans and celebs alike for the smooth bop with a penchant for wordplay. With the inclusion of the track on Taylor Swift’s personal playlist and praise from the song’s namesake, the track propelled Bryce into the spotlight. Since then, Bryce was nonstop in the studio in order to create his 2018 debut album Carnival — released in August.

On a beautiful day in DTLA, we welcomed some of Bryce’s biggest fans to our LA office with cold bevs and snacks as we settled in for the performance. Bryce kicked things off with his single ‘Classic and Perfect’. Decked out in a flannel and rose-colored glasses, Bryce took us through some of his biggest tracks including ‘La La Land’ and ‘Drew Barrymore’, with the audience singing every word.

After the set, we welcomed Katie Krause from Entertainment Tonight — a lifelong friend of Bryce’s — to the stage to host our interview. Katie pressed Bryce on the important subjects like the title of his first song (which may have been inspired by Fall Out Boy) and his favorite song on the album. Bryce told us about his early experiences with music and how songwriting became a form of therapy for him and how amazing it has been to hear fans singing his songs.

It’s crazy to hear people singing lyrics that you wrote. I don’t think it’ll ever not be crazy…It’s so much more fun to share it with people.

Overall, Bryce wants his music to bring people together by writing lyrics that are honest and personal. While his career is blowing up, Bryce is keeping himself down to earth by singing about his experiences. Despite some crazy experiences like (almost) meeting Drew Barrymore and performing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Bryce admits that he didn’t really believe he could have a career as a musician until about 2 years ago. Now, he can’t wait for what’s next.

I just want to be somebody that people feel like they can depend on to make songs that will make them feel better. I think there’s enough things that are tearing people apart these days and I kind of want to be somebody that can be like a bridge between all the divides.
