Songkick salutes Outside Lands!

In 48 hours time, Golden Gate Park will throw open its doors for the 5th edition of Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival. The pedigree line-up (Metallica, Stevie Wonder, Neil Young, Foo Fighters, Beck, Jack White, Skrillex & more) is matched toe-to-toe by the epic food and wine selection from the Bay Area.

But what really makes Outside Lands so magnificent is its unparalleled efforts towards environmental sustainability.

Take the Panhandle Stage, for instance. This weekend, it will host the likes of Washed Out, Michael Kiwanuka and Wolfgang Gartner. And one other thing – it’s totally off the grid! Powered by solar and alternative energy, it’s the largest self-contained stage in the US. A glimpse into festival future, perhaps?

What’s more, with Golden Gate Park located in the heart of San Francisco, what better and greener way to rock up each morning than by bike? Not only does Outside Lands have a bike park, they’ll wash and tune-up your ride for free!

It doesn’t stop there. A refillable water program reduces the waste of plastic bottles. All of the cups, plates and bowls dished out across the site are 100% biodegradable. Rubbish picks are rewarded with prizes. And most of all, local community organizations, national NGO’s, a farmer’s market and locally sourced food vendors serve to educate festival goers on the importance of environmental sustainability.

Amazing work Outside Lands! Songkick salutes you.
