Iconic Manchester band The Smiths are the subjects of a new exhibition to be held in London from next week. Manchester: So Much To Answer For will present a portrait of The Smiths, the northern city that influenced so much of their music and the ensuing Madchester scene that followed their split in 1987.

The exhibition, hosted by Proud Galleries Camden, will feature the work of renowned photographer Kevin Cummins – who chronicled the Manchester scene from 1976. He took the bands publicity stills, shot countless features for NME, tracked their gigs and travelled the world with Morrissey, Marr, Rourke and Joyce. So if you’re a fan, it’s not to be missed!

Alongside photographs of the band, the showcase will also display a collection of cityscapes which capture the cultural, social and political climate that gave birth to Indie music.

You can check out the exhibition for free from 1st June – 15th July 2012 but we’re offering you the chance to attend the exclusive private view launch in Camden on 31 May, which will also include a guest DJ set from Smiths’ drummer Mike Joyce.

To be entered into the draw to attend, all you have to do is email your name to competitions@songkick.com

We’ll be picking a handful of winners at random on Monday afternoon – good luck!
