Songkick Artist and Concert Information Showcased in Yahoo! Search Results

LONDON – October 22, 2010 –Songkick (www.songkick.com), the live music and technology company that connects music fans with their favorite artists’ tours now has its data showcased in Yahoo!’s results for music searches. The integration makes it easy for music fans to discover local concert information and acquire cheap tickets, all while they are searching for their favorite bands.

The integration between Yahoo! and Songkick was recently featured as part of a series of initiatives Yahoo! launched to improve search experiences for Yahoo! users.

“Yahoo! and Songkick just made it a lot easier for music fans to discover when their favorite bands are on tour,” said Ian Hogarth, CEO and co-founder. “We’re combining the reach of one of the web’s premier Search engines with our database of more than 120,000 upcoming concerts to deliver local, relevant concert info to music fans.

“It’s one click to find out about a show near you, another to purchase your ticket. We’re providing relevant concert information as fans use Yahoo! to search for their favorite bands.”

Hogarth said that Songkick’s database of concerts is integrated directly into Yahoo! Search, so fans searching for an artist will see local concert info within a new module at the top of relevant Search result pages.

“Touring is how many artists pay the rent,” said Hogarth. “Songkick promotes their tour by putting relevant concert information in front of fans through partnerships like this one.”

The integration of Songkick into Yahoo!’s Search results is part of a series of innovative new enhancements Yahoo! launched to help people get to personally relevant entertainment content faster, and allowing them to act on the things they find to complete tasks. Showcasing Songkick’s data in Search results provides quick and easy ways for Yahoo! users to purchase concert tickets while searching for news and information about musical artists.

Songkick’s concert information is shared via an open API with distribution partners including YouTube, Vevo, the British Broadcasting Corporation, and Mobile Roadie.
