Songkick loves music videos: Now integrated into YouTube and Vevo!
When we started Songkick, our goal was to make it easier to find out about shows. That started with songkick.com, but has since expanded through our API to include a network of partners. We figured that people are discovering bands every day all over the web, and it would be great if you could see if they’re playing near you at the same time. Our partners now include some of our favourite music start-ups like the Hype Machine, Songbird, We Are Hunted and Grooveshark along with some bigger companies like Nokia and Philips.
Today I’m excited to tell you about 2 new places on the web you can find tour dates powered by Songkick, as you’re discovering new bands: Vevo and YouTube.
We’re massive fans of music videos at Songkick, and have been really excited to see the arrival of Vevo, dedicated to music videos. Now as you browse Vevo, you can see which of the bands you’re watching are on tour, and when you find a local show, click through to Songkick to find out more and buy tickets. It’s pretty slick, but all credit for that goes to the Vevo folks. Shout out Leon, Alwin, Brent & Paula @ Vevo!
We’re also now working with the mother of all online video companies, YouTube, on their new Music Browse pages. When you visit www.youtube.com/music you can now see popular Events Near You based on our concert info. It works whether you’re in Sao Paulo or San Francisco! We’re all really excited about this at Songkick HQ!
Hope you enjoy these new ways to find shows as you’re browsing music videos.
We’re working on a few more integrations like this with some of our favourite music services, so stay tuned. Where else would you like to see Songkick tour dates?
I’ll leave you with a clip of a killer video from my favourite gig of the year so far – Pavement at Brixton Academy. It took 10 years and a reunion, but I finally saw them play Gold Soundz in Brixton.
